The Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics was founded in 1932. Its first name was: Moscow Institute of National Economic Accounting, which was replaced by the Moscow Institute of Economics and Statistics in 1948. Since 1996, the university has the status of a university.

MESI today is 7 institutes (faculties) and a wide branch network - 25 in the Russian Federation and 4 in foreign countries: in the Republic of Belarus, Armenia, Latvia and Kazakhstan. Thanks to such a scale, about 70 thousand students study at MESI at the same time. Training is conducted in such areas as "Business Informatics", "Information Security", "Psychology", "Economics", "Jurisprudence", "Applied Informatics", "Linguistics" and others. In addition, MESI is the first Russian university, which has successfully passed the procedure of external examination for compliance with European standards of quality assurance in education.

Admission to MESI is carried out based on the results of the Unified State Exam points competition in general education specialized subjects. It is quite difficult to pass the competition; according to the results of the 2012 admission campaign, it averaged 37 people per place. The most popular areas of training, based on the number of applications submitted, were the following: "Trade" (106 people per seat), "State and municipal administration" (77), "Economics" and "Innovatika" (60 each). The passing score is also high. To be enrolled in "Jurisprudence" it was necessary to score at least 252 points, for "Linguistics" - 244, for "Mathematical support and administration of information systems" - 239. In total, 983 were allocated for the 2012/2013 academic year. budget places a, of which 845 - on full-time form training (575 in Moscow and 270 in branches).

MESI has had a program for several years continuing education"School-College-University". Graduates of colleges have the opportunity to enroll in abbreviated training programs at MESI in the areas of "Management", "Economics", "Jurisprudence" and "State and Municipal Administration". Exams are conducted in the form of computer testing. The term of study is from 2.5 years.

In the structure of the Institute of Continuing Education, MESI, there is a Center for Pre-University Education, on the basis of which various programs are carried out for schoolchildren from grades 1 to 11. There are preparatory courses "Applicant-9" and "Applicant-11". On the preparatory courses high school students are being prepared for the Unified State Exam; preparations are also underway for the MESI internal exams for college and technical school graduates.

There is no military department at MESI; full-time students of those areas of training that have passed state accreditation, a respite from the army is granted.

MESI has its own hostel. The number of places is strictly limited, the distribution of rooms among nonresident students is carried out depending on the total score of the Unified State Examination, gained in the entrance exams. In addition, students can be accommodated in dormitories of other Moscow universities, with which MESI has an agreement. Guaranteed places are awarded to students who have scored more than 250 points for the Unified State Exam, as well as prize winners of the Olympiads.

MESI ranks 29th in the ranking of 100 the best universities Russia in 2012. This indicator is confirmed by the quality of education and the high demand for university graduates among such large companies as VTB24, URALSIB, Promsvyazbank, Alfa-Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG and many others.

Studying proccess

In the 2007/2008 academic year, a point-rating system for assessing students' knowledge (BRS) was introduced. Depending on the amount of points scored during the semester, a student can receive an "automatic", be admitted to a test or an exam. If the points are not enough, then the student is not allowed to pass the exam or test and goes to retake.

E-learning

For e-learning, the university has created a special electronic environment - an electronic campus.

During the semester, students must complete assignments through the campus (electronic learning environment). There are several types of such tasks: test, forum, individual task. The campus also has electronic journal... At the beginning of each year, changes are made to the electronic system, which entails difficulties in its use.

Blogs appeared in the Campus in the spring of 2008, and in November 2008 they are being checked new system testing.

Transport

A bus stop “MGUESI” adjacent to its new (main) building on Nezhinskaya street was named in honor of the institute. Buses of the following routes stop here: 107, 187, 260. The first go to the metro station "Filyovskiy Park", the second two - to the metro station "Universitet". Minibuses "MESI" follow from Kievsky railway station especially for students and teachers, who are dropped off and recruited also in the mini-park on the territory of the new building.

I am studying in Moscow, on the 4th course (direction of Economics). The university as a whole has more "show-off" than sense ... For those who want a worthwhile education in the economic direction, I do not advise going here. It's not Fin, after all. the Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation, or the Higher School of Economics, etc. - another echelon (however, for admission to the budget, the USE scores are quite high). I can say that the main building is quite decent (not taking into account the fact that getting to it is quite problematic, 15 minutes by paid minibus from the metro to the institute). The rest of the buildings are average ... Kozhukhovskaya is empty, because are rented in a business park, and it would be worthwhile to make a renovation at a sports park, because starts to leak, and the building is not many, not a little for more than 80 years ... There are a lot of sideboards and all are expensive ... The dining room is also expensive, but the food is so-so ... In general, the technical equipment remained at the 2008 level -2009 (considering that at that time, computers were not very efficient). However, the administration takes care of modern software and puts the latest "offices" and so on on these outdated computers, which creates the effect of a "turtle" and computers for 10 minutes, and sometimes more sag. The educational process, of course, is a solid threefold. You can drive a freebie and close the session quite successfully. The teaching staff is going through a crisis, because more experienced teachers are either of the past age or go to work elsewhere. A fairly good staff of teachers (old school) teaches the master's degree, and the bachelor's degree prepares a staff of young graduate students / newly-minted Ph.D. students who, in general, do not care what they do! I can single out the departments "Accounting, Analysis and Auditing" and "Theory of Statistics" and "Taxes and Taxation" - quite professional teachers who know their business (Arkharova, Bogacheva, Shadrina, Moiseikin, Sadovnikova, Sycheva, Puzin, etc. Well, the department of economic theory is not bad, but it does not reach the above-described))) The most terrible departments are the department of Finance, Credit and Banking and the Department of Applied Informatics in Economics. Lecture material at the level of abstruse words on slides in presentations - explanations from oneself 0 (mostly young people practice.) the presentation of reports of their colleagues in training. Regardless of the form of study, each student must complete assignments in the "electronic campus". Tests, forums (a question for discussion) are usually posted there, and sometimes you can send some assignments there for verification to teachers. I want to note that this electronic environment always freezes or does not work. In 90% of cases, tests are laid out with errors, and sometimes they can even be confused (open not what the teacher sends). Forums are copy-pasted text from the Internet and teachers are often satisfied with this. As for the electronic textbooks on this campus, this is a complete failure ... Either they are spreading them, but for some reason they do not open, or they are spreading unactivated junk, for "zero years." There are very few copies in the library, in general, the calculation for an extra waste of money ... Couples, mostly in the afternoon, which for a working student is just a disaster! The employees of the dean's offices (and all of them) are terribly unfriendly, boorish and so on ... Eternal queues. And the innovation with the "electronic dean's office" is a good idea, but during the session the poor guys simply cannot cope with the huge flow of debtors who come for the statements)))))))))))))) they do not expel, and if they do, they are completely lost, who have not appeared at the institute for years! Nevertheless, not everything is so bad, the opportunity to learn something to eat, provided that you still have to sit with books, making up for what they don't give in pairs ... well, or not catching up;) There are a lot of circles, with sports are very good))) Even there are many contracts with foreign institutes, you can go to study for a year abroad (under the condition of practically excellent academic performance). There are good guys in the student council) There is even a MESI training center, for students who are interested in developing!))))) There is a hostel, but this is another point) And quite good student life, in general))) Well, if you're lucky with classmates))) Such things ... But, unfortunately, this happens in many universities ... If there is nowhere to put money, then there is a direct road here!)) And if you want a decent education , then I advise you to think 100 times. Do not get fooled by the wrapper, as I was led to do in due time - you won't like the filling!

Youth theater KAZUS

The youth theater "KAZUS" was founded in 2005 at the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI), although it all started much earlier, in 2001, with the STEM studio.

For several years in this studio, MESI students were engaged in acting, stage movement and plastic. Gradually, the studio grew, and at the beginning of 2005, with the active support of the administration, it turned into the Student Theater "KAZUS". In the fall of 2005 the theater took part in the Sails of Hope festival, where it won diplomas in 9 out of 13 nominations, thus establishing itself as a serious undertaking. On the initiative of G.A. Davydov, in August 2006 the theater took part in the international theater arts festival in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Fringe-2006, where it received a 4/5 rating from critics of the official festival newspaper Threeweeks.

In 2006, the premiere of the first full-fledged performance of the theater took place - "About Fedot the Archer, a dashing fellow", which was timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of MESI.

Interesting finds, original directorial and acting decisions, an unusual choice of music - these are the main components of the production's success. For this performance, the participants in the production were awarded diplomas of gratitude from the Department of Family and Youth Policy of Moscow. Now the theater is actively rehearsing new version performance in a renewed composition.

The extracurricular life of MESI is rich and varied. Any student will find here a way to apply their abilities, develop them in accordance with their interests.
