If you do not have a program that is designed to read fb2 files, and you need to read the contents of the file, then this can be done using programs that are not intended for this at all.

Before opening such a file with another program, you can change its extension, for example, write txt or doc instead of fb2. Then the program you need will open such a file automatically as soon as you click on it.

For example, I opened Chase's book in three programs, MS Word, Brackets and Notepad ++.
As you can see, the file is perfectly readable in Word, only tags that stand out strongly against the general background interfere a little.
Notepad ++ also shows good results and the fb2 format file is clearly visible and readable in it.
So, if you do not have a special application for opening such files, you can use one of those that are installed on your computer.
And of course smartphones and tablets can also display e-books of different formats. But unlike computers, there is no need to search for a program on the network, everything required programs are located in a dedicated repository where they are easy to find and install.
