SFedU includes four separate branch institutes, the total number of faculties is 37, scientific structural divisions are 70, among which are 10 research institutes, as well as design bureaus, TsKP, educational and scientific laboratories (including joint ones with institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences), 20 structures of innovation activity (in including 2 pilot plants, 2 technoparks, 2 business incubators, 5 centers for collective use), etc., which employ about 800 research workers, including 354 candidates and 45 doctors of sciences. Southern Federal University was formed

The state educational institution of higher professional education "Rostov State University" was created by the Decree of the Provisional Government of Russia dated May 5, 1917 N 1227.

State educational institution of higher professional education "Rostov State Academy of Architecture and Art" was established by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR "On further development architecture and urban planning in the RSFSR "dated December 25, 1987 N 513.

The state educational institution of higher professional education "Rostov State Pedagogical University" was established by the decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR on June 3, 1930 and by the order of the People's Commissariat of Education dated October 9, 1930.

State educational institution of higher professional education "Taganrog State Radio Engineering University" was formed by the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of December 28, 1951 N 5389-2346 and the order of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education of January 9, 1952 N 18.

The university is the legal successor of the state educational institutions of higher professional education "Rostov State University", "Rostov State Academy of Architecture and Art", "Rostov State Pedagogical University" and "Taganrog State Radio Engineering University".

Creation of an educational institution and its goals

In 2006, a large Russian university, the Southern Federal University, began to work in Rostov-on-Don. It absorbed the traditions and knowledge accumulated by other universities, because SFedU appeared on the basis of 4 united educational organizations:

Rostov State University, operating since 1915;
Rostov pedagogical university, which began training in 1930;

The structure of the educational organization

All existing structural units are combined into 5 large groups related to certain areas of knowledge:

engineering direction;

Faculties of Physics, Mathematics and Natural Science

This group of units includes the Faculty of Physics. It is one of the largest structural units of the Southern Federal University. This faculty works with students. A school operates on its basis additional education... In it, children from the most early years study interesting science, immerse themselves in various experiments, become interested in solving problems. After completing their studies at this school, many enter the physics faculty at the Southern Federal University, choosing the most suitable and interesting specialties for themselves.

Faculty of Economics

Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don) has an economic structural unit. It grew out of the Faculty of Economics and Philosophy, which existed in Rostov state university since 1965. Currently, it is a fairly large structural unit, which includes 8 departments, 6 educational and research laboratories, 5 educational centers. The faculty sees its goals:

College of Applied Vocational Education

This division began its work in 2015. We created a college based on:

art and humanitarian college, which was previously part of the Academy of Architecture and Arts.

Directions of preparation in college

This structural unit of the Southern Federal University implements its educational activities in 6 specialties:
