Tonic or lotion: what to buy? Differences and properties. Facial cleansing lotions Micellar water “Clean Skin” from Garnier

Cleansing the skin, especially before bed, is one of the necessary conditions preserving youth and beauty. Under no circumstances should you leave leftover cream overnight, no matter how good it is. This contributes to excessive heating of the skin, stagnation of venous blood and dilation of blood vessels, sagging, etc., and clogged pores interfere with the natural secretion of sebum, which makes it difficult for the skin to breathe and leads to infections and acne.

Therefore, simply blotting the face with a napkin is not at all sufficient for the normal process of night skin regeneration. Wet cleansing is necessary using lotion, which can be prepared at home. After all, store-bought lotions can sometimes also damage our skin due to their alcohol content, high content of detergents, lauryl sulfates and other surfactants.

Washing with lotion cleanses the skin of toxic products secreted by the sweat and sebaceous glands: dirt, germs, and sloughing cells of the skin epidermis; it helps maintain normal acidity and bactericidal properties, optimal respiration and blood circulation of the skin and subcutaneous tissue.

Micellar water

Micellar water appeared on the market much later than the usual gels and foams for washing, but quickly won the recognition and love of girls all over the world. Of course, because, unlike “colleagues”, micellar water copes well with the most persistent makeup, but does not require rinsing. The product got its name because of the micelles it contains - tiny particles that are liquid spherical crystals. These “babies,” like magnets, attract particles of fat and cosmetics from the surface of the skin and envelop them. After which all contaminants get inside the micelles, become their “core” and no longer come into contact with the skin. Micellar water is your ideal solution if:

  • you are lazy to remove makeup before going to bed;
  • you have sensitive skin;
  • Are you looking for one eye and lip makeup remover?

Shower gel

The main function of washing gels is to remove impurities. Makeup is a secondary matter. But good gels do both tasks well. Some washing gels, in addition to their main function, also care for the skin, nourishing and moisturizing it. Cleansing gel is your ideal product if you:

  • Do you like products with a “soapy” consistency?
  • Do you like to cleanse your skin until it's squeaky clean?

Cleansing foam

Foams or mousses for washing are a relatively new cleansing product. The main difference from gels is the foaming agent built into the bottle. Their main advantage is that you wash your face not with a concentrated gel, but with a soft foam with a reduced surfactant content. You should wash your face with foam if you:

  • owner of oily or combination skin;
  • love light airy textures.

Makeup remover balm and milk

Makeup remover balm and milk are an ideal option for those girls who not only like to wash their face, but want their skin to “squeak” from cleanliness! And no additional products after washing! It is also important that, in addition to cleansing, the product has some useful properties, for example, nourishes, moisturizes or fights wrinkles. Choose a balm or milk for makeup removal if you:

  • Are you looking for a gentle cleanser with a creamy texture?
  • owner of dry and sensitive skin;
  • You rarely use long-lasting cosmetics.

Tonic and oil

What are the benefits of cleansing toners? These are a kind of “energy cocktails” for tired skin! Many girls prefer tonics because after using them the skin looks fresh and rested. Take a closer look at cleansing tonics if you:

  • owner of oily or oily skin;
  • I'm unhappy with the color of my face.

Cleansing oils for the face are not yet very popular on the Russian market, but we believe that soon our girls will “try” them too. Many are simply afraid of them, fearing the appearance of allergies or oily sheen. It is important to choose the right product that suits your skin type, and then the result will definitely please you! You should try cleansing oil if you:

  • owner of dry and dehydrated skin;
  • noticed the first age-related changes;
  • You often wear waterproof makeup.

Cleansing is one of the main procedures in facial care. How we do this every day affects the health and beauty of our skin. How does correct cleansing differ from incorrect cleansing? WITH the creator of the organic cosmetics brand Pure Love Katerina Karpova shared with us step by step instructions on cleansing the face and talked about the five main mistakes that many of us make in the bathroom.

Step-by-step instructions for clear and healthy skin

1. Gentle cleansing (makeup remover)

Cleansing begins with washing with special products - this can be a cleansing gel, foam, milk or lotion. Apply the product to the skin using circular movements with your fingertips. Then the face is thoroughly rinsed with water. The water temperature should be slightly warm (not cold or hot) - then dilation and constriction of blood vessels does not occur, which is especially important for those with “fragile” vessels and those who have inflammation on the skin. After washing with water, gently pat your face with a towel.

In urban environments, water is often of poor quality; if possible, wash with filtered or bottled water.

2. Toning

After basic cleansing, the face is refreshed with tonic or lotion, removing any remaining cleanser, soothing the skin and balancing its Ph. Floral waters, amino acids, and plant extracts are very beneficial for the face. Organic toners do not contain chemical ingredients and do not leave a film on the face.

✩ After tonic or lotion, a moisturizing or nourishing cream is applied to the face, and if necessary, it can be included in the care and serum. After applying the cream, you can also do a small facial massage - with light patting movements.

3. Deep cleansing 1-2 times a week

For complete care, it is necessary to deep cleanse the skin 1-2 times a week. Lately I prefer enzymatic peels (with Bacillus bacteria) or masks with papain and bromelain. They very carefully cleanse the skin of the face without mechanical damage. Cleansing occurs due to the disruption of connections between corneocytes (flat scales) of the stratum corneum, due to which the skin is renewed. Such products can be used even for sensitive skin, plus they do not provoke photosensitivity of the skin and are suitable for use in the summer.

✩ If dead cells are not removed in a timely manner, they can clog the sebaceous ducts and thereby cause inflammation or cause premature aging of the skin.

For combination and oily skin It is also useful to use clay masks - they help cleanse the face of excess sebum. They can be enriched with vegetable or essential oils.

Scrubs are not for everyone. They are contraindicated for people with sensitive or problematic skin. Small particles of scrub from natural ingredients can cause microtraumas, irritating the skin of the face, and also spread infection to neighboring areas. The use of scrubs that contain plastic granules is not very environmentally friendly, since they do not decompose and, if they end up in drains, harm the environment.

Do I need to cleanse my skin twice a day? Or is it enough to wash your face well in the evening and just wipe your face with toner in the morning?

The advice of cosmetologists differs on this issue. Some believe that it is necessary to cleanse the face both morning and evening using foams and gels, others say that using a toner in the morning is enough, and more powerful products are needed for the evening. For myself, I chose the second option. And as a rule, opinions coincide that frequent cleansing with surfactants is not recommended for anyone - this does not make the skin cleaner, but only increases dehydration, dryness and disruption of normal metabolism. Here it is also important to pay attention to age - after 40 years, it is recommended to use milk in the morning for gentle aftercare.

5 main mistakes in cleansing your skin

· · · 1 · · ·

Incorrect determination of skin type → incorrect choice of products. For example, dehydrated skin is often confused with dry skin. A dry skin type is one that does not have enough of its lipids; such skin is very thin and sometimes even looks like porcelain. Dehydrated is one that needs additional hydration. Such skin can be of combination or even oily type. If pores are noticeable on your face, it is most likely a combination type.

・・・2・・・

Frequently washing your skin leads to dry skin and disruption of its barrier layer. Squeaky doesn't mean good. On the contrary, oily skin needs a very gentle cleansing, without irritating elements.

・・・ 3・・・

Leave cleanser on skin too long. Most of them need to be applied only for a short time (no more than 20 seconds) and then washed off with water. If cleansing is not enough, it is better to apply the product again than to leave it on the skin for a long time and massage the face. This way you will get more benefits for skin health and a minimum of negative effects from the cleansing procedure.

· · · 4 · · ·

Using water that is too hot or too cold. Washing is carried out only warm water. For those who have signs of rosacea, cold water, ice and especially hot water are contraindicated.

· · · 5 · · ·

Harsh effect on skin. Cleansing must be done gently and gently. Strong pressure and sudden movements will only lead to the opposite effect.

* The first part is about proper cleansing of the skin -.

Facial lotions are a necessary element of care. Immediately after cleansing, the skin needs to restore its hydro-lipid balance and eliminate dryness. Without this, the effect of other cosmetic products will not be complete.

When applied to damp skin, lotions or tonics retain water molecules in the skin, increase its elasticity, and prevent the appearance of peeling. Cleansing lotions containing alcohol are necessary to combat rashes and prevent the spread of infection to healthy areas of the skin. Any lotion should be applied immediately after cleansing, so its effect will be as effective as possible.
