Temples and monasteries of Moscow and the region

The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity at Borisov Ponds (aka the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in honor of the millennium of the Baptism of Rus in Orekhovo-Borisov) was built in 2004 in memory of the millennium anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. (Address: Kashirskoe highway, 61a).
I want to show three of my favorite remake temples. These temples are very beautiful, but there is nothing special to say about them, so the text will be boring.

2.

The emergence of the village of Borisov is associated with the name of Tsar Boris Godunov. At the end of the 16th century, Godunov built a developed cascade of ponds on the Gorodenka River, which flowed through the palace estate. The upper pond began at the village of Chernaya Gryaz (later - Tsaritsyno).

3.

On the shore of the last, eastern pond, the settlement of Borisovo arose - an economic settlement of the palace village of Kolomenskoye. The pond has retained its ancient name "Borisovsky" or "Tsareborisovsky". Borisovo was part of the palace lands until 1917.

4.

As a village with a church, Borisovo was first mentioned in the payroll books of the patriarchal order for 1628. This does not mean that there was no church place here before. The first wooden church was dedicated to St. Nicholas.

5.

Then a new, white-stone church was built, dedicated to the Holy Life-Giving Trinity. The exact date of its construction is unknown.

6.

The church stood near the very shore of the pond, and the old cemetery was located nearby. Such an inconvenient location of the cemetery next to water was completely unacceptable for sanitary reasons.

7.

Moreover, the construction of the palace complex in Tsaritsyno with all kinds of dams caused a further sharp rise in water.

8.

The old white-stone church quickly fell into decay from constant dampness and threatened to collapse.

9.

The collection of donations for the construction of a new church on the hill began, but it progressed very slowly, since a third of the Borisov village was made up of Old Believers.

10.

The new church was built and consecrated in 1873, finishing lasted until 1874. At the same time, a large bell was raised on the bell tower.

11.

Under the Bolsheviks, the church was closed, partially destroyed and adapted for the grain warehouse of the Borisov state farm.

In the summer of 1988, in the year of the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, on the banks of the Borisov ponds in the Orekhovo-Borisovo region, the foundation stone of the Life-Giving Trinity Church dedicated to this event was consecrated. The construction of the temple began only in 2000 at a new location near the Kashirskoye highway.

13.

In October 2000, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, a cross was erected in a new place and the first prayer service was held, and on September 1, 2001, with a huge crowd of people, the foundation stone of the future Church of the Life-Giving Trinity was consecrated.

The complex, which has the status of the Patriarchal Compound, consists of a church, a clergy house, a children's music school and three chapels. The temple can simultaneously accommodate up to 4,000 people.

All domes are painted blue - a symbol of the Mother of God and angelic forces.

Borisovo is one of the districts of Moscow, originally existed as a village, which became part of the capital when it expanded in 1960. The village belonged to the palace department, and was founded at the end of the 16th century by Tsar Boris Godunov on the bank of a large pond. But the temple in the village was built much later than its foundation.

The history of the founding of the temple

The construction of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Borisov dates back to 1628. Then it was a wooden church, consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

Later in the history of the temple, the following stages can be noted:

The old temple was not dismantled, although it was in a completely dilapidated state.

Interesting fact! The Moscow Archaeological Society, which considered it an architectural monument, prevented the dismantling of the old temple. There were no funds for the restoration of the church, and in 1897 the society agreed that the old church should be dismantled.

V Soviet time the temple was not operational by 1938. During the liquidation of the village, it survived, as it was recognized as a monument of history and architecture. In 1991, the Church of the Holy Trinity in Borisov was handed over to the Church, and since that time, divine services have been performed in it again.

Description of architecture

The architecture of the temple is unusual, which is why it probably attracted the attention of architects who defended the right to preserve the church as a monument.

In terms of the plan, this is a refectory with a bell tower, and the altar is not so pronounced. Everything is very laconic, modest and at the same time without some sophistication. Most likely, Borisovites to build just such a stone church were prompted by the elementary lack of funds to make their parish church more fundamental.

Parish activities

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Borisov was handed over to the Orthodox community in a terrible state, in fact, only the walls have survived. But in a short time, it was possible to recreate the temple in its former form and resume the divine service.

  • Sunday school sponsors a social shelter for adolescent children and a correctional orphanage No. 9.

Also, the temple regularly organizes pilgrimage trips to the holy places of Russia.

Saints and shrines

The parishioner of the church was Alexy Zverev, glorified by the Russian Orthodox Church like a new martyr. He was a member of the Local Council 1917-1918. and was a member of the commission to investigate the murder of the Archbishop of Perm Andronik (Nikolsky).

Among the most revered shrines of the temple:
