The humanitarian orientation of the university has opened up new prospects in the field of training bachelors and masters in the field of: physical and mathematical education, natural sciences and humanities, social sciences, education and pedagogy, culture and art, economics and management, and the service sector.

In 2011, the Accompaniment Center was organized in the structure of the university vocational education, the purpose of which is to ensure the availability of higher and additional professional education to people with disabilities and persons with disabilities to improve their quality of life, as well as to create an accessible educational environment.

MSGU, being the leading center for humanitarian research in the Murmansk region, implements research and conference projects within the framework of the federal target program "Scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of innovative Russia". The Research Laboratory for Sociological Research, created on the basis of the Moscow State University for the Humanities, operates within the framework of scientific grants and economic contracts. The University regularly organizes conferences and seminars where Active participation the faculty of the university, students and invited experts.

The scientific-practical conferences "Ushakov Readings" (history) and "Maslov Readings" (philology) have become traditional and gained wide popularity among Russian scientists.

The scientific and methodological seminar “Humanities University: Man and the North” and the Murmansk branch of the Russian Philosophical Society, operating on the basis of Moscow State University of Humanities, contribute to building common methodological fields both within the university and on the basis of interuniversity cooperation.

An extensive and multi-stage system of training scientific personnel has been created at the university. On the basis of the university there are postgraduate and doctoral studies. In order to develop the scientific and pedagogical potential and improve the training of teaching staff of the highest scientific qualification, the Moscow State University for the Humanities developed and adopted a program to support scientific research projects"Ph.D". The Student Scientific Society was organized on the basis of Moscow State University for the Humanities.

The pride of the university is a team of scientific and pedagogical workers: 28 doctors of sciences and professors, 116 candidates of sciences and associate professors, many of whom were awarded distinctions in the field of education, science, culture and sports for outstanding merits associated with achievements in professional work.

In the 2013-14 academic year, the project "Public Lectures at Moscow State University for the Humanities" was successfully implemented, organized with the support of the Government of the Murmansk Region.

International activities at MSHU are closely linked to regional needs. Within the framework of cooperation between the Moscow State University for the Humanities and the universities of Norway and Finland in the educational sphere, supervision is carried out international programs bachelor's and master's degrees. Thus, in Moscow State University of Humanities, in cooperation with the University of Nordland, it implements the international master's program "Boundary Studies", in cooperation with the University of Lapland and the University of Oulu, it develops an international master's program in the field of social work within the framework of the Barents-Transboundary University.

To implement innovative activities at Moscow State University for the Humanities, new structures have been opened and are being developed:

The University widely applies innovative activities for the training and retraining and advanced training of specialists in the new economic conditions.

The university has created favorable conditions for the harmonious development of students, educating them not only as specialists needed by the country, but also as worthy citizens of Russia. Students and teachers of MSGU actively participate in cultural events, creative competitions, intellectual games “What? Where? When?", KVN. Many of these events have become traditional and are held annually. The university is actively working on social support for students and graduate students.

The path of MSHU today is the path to the creation of a modern European university in the Far North, the strategy of international activity of which is entirely determined by the principles of the Bologna Declaration and the gradual entry into the "Europe of Knowledge".
