For novice computer users, writing to external storage media such as CDs and DVDs may cause some difficulties. However, there are a lot of recording methods. I will highlight two methods: standard and through a special program for working with discs - Nero.

The first way is to transfer the files to the disk folder. Such files are being prepared for recording, but not yet written! Once the files are ready to be written to disk, when you click on write, all files are written to disk at once. Then you cannot delete such files separately. To delete a file from the disk, you first need to save all the files on the computer, clean up the disk, re-prepare those files that need to be written, and, in fact, write them.

Burn discs

So now let's try to write the files to a new disk.

The first way- standard.

Insert the disc into the drive, open "Start"> "Computer"> "DVD RW drive" (or CD RW drive).

Let's use the most common disc burning method ("With a CD / DVD player"). Enter the name of the disc (for example, "MyDisc"). Click "Next". A folder opens into which you need to drag and drop files from your computer and prepare them for writing. After that, the folder will look like this:

After that, right-click and select "Burn to disk".

After that, enter the name of the disc and click the "Next" button.

Then, we are waiting for the end of writing files to disk. Typically, the recording time on a DVD-RW disc is 30 minutes. But not always. Much depends on the selected recording type and volume.

To complete the recording procedure, click the "Finish" button.

Disc burned successfully!

Second way can only be used if Nero is present on the computer (tested with Nero 7).

All you need to do is view the following icon on your computer desktop, or in Start> All Programs> Nero 7 Ultra Editional> NeroStartSmart.

If there is such a program, then, accordingly, we launch it (if windows 8 is installed, we launch it with the help of the administrator). Next, click on the left arrow to expand the functionality of the program (a list of programs is displayed).

Then, hover the mouse pointer (do not click anywhere) on the "Data"> "Create DVD with data" items.

On the left in the window "Open with:" select the program "Nero Express". and click on the green arrow on the right:

Nero Express opens. In the empty field in the center of the program, you need to move the files from your computer that you want to write to disk. At the bottom there is a record availability indicator. At the moment, you can record the amount of information no more than 4500 MB (highlighted in green). If the amount of information exceeds the permissible norm, the indicator shows that there is a "surplus" of information. It is necessary to reduce the amount of information, because it does not fit on the disc. After that, click the "Next" button.

Enter the name of the disc, put two checkboxes, according to the figure below and click "Burn" (when recording a disposable CD / DVD-R disc, it is better not to check the first checkbox, because if errors appear during recording, there will be a lot of problems, as a result which disc may be damaged)

Thus, there is confidence that the information will be opened on another computer (or device).

In the future, data on the disk, if there is space left, can be added. If you turn off the second checkbox for creating a multisession disc, then the empty space on the disc becomes full and no information can be written to the disc in the future.

Click "Record".

A window opens with the current write operations to the disk.

Beginners, inexperienced users do not see the difference between logical drives of a computer. These people, as a rule, save their documents created in office applications such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel, or files downloaded by the browser from the Internet to where the application writes such files by default. And by default, both office suites and browsers upload their files to the C drive in the subdirectories of the "My Documents" folder. In itself, this is not very scary. Problems can arise in only two cases. First, the C drive is usually made smaller in size than other logical drives, it is mainly intended for the installation and operation of the operating system. But when such an inexperienced user overloads the C disc with movies, music and other large files, the operating system simply does not have enough space for normal functioning.

A more serious problem occurs when the operating system crashes. Any operating system needs to be reinstalled periodically. If all the user's documents are located on drive D, then it is enough to simply format the system drive C and install the operating system from scratch. In the opposite cases, you have to boot the computer from some boot disk and save the necessary files, trying to move these files from c to d. Therefore, it is recommended to immediately save any files on the D drive. If they were previously saved on the C drive, then it will be advisable to move the files in order to protect yourself from the consequences of an operating system failure, data loss and unnecessary work that can be avoided.

Now directly on how to move files from disk to disk e. To do this, you need to double-click the left mouse button on the "My Computer" image on the desktop to open the disk selection window. Depending on how many disks are registered in the system and whether any other removable devices (for example, a flash drive) are connected, this number of disks will be displayed in this window. In it, you need to find the C drive and see its contents in the same way, by double-clicking the left button on the C drive icon. Next, go to the file or group of files that you want to move. Knowing the path to them, the transition is carried out according to the same principle as the transition to the window with the choice of disk, that is, opening each folder with a double click of the mouse. Having found the required file, you need to select it by clicking on it with the right mouse button and select the "Cut" item in the context menu that appears after that.

After that, open the destination folder on the D drive, into which you need to move the file, right-click on any free space in it and select "Paste" in the context menu that appears. The file will be moved from the system drive C to drive D. There is a slightly different way to move. You can open the folder with the file on the C drive in two different windows, and the folder on the D drive, into which you want to move the file. Then, holding down the SHIFT key on the keyboard, just drag the file with the mouse from one window to another. If you do this without the SHIFT key, you will be able to copy the files, not move them. If you need to move several files at once, you must first select a group of files with the mouse, holding down the CTRL key, and then do the same thing that is done when moving one file. It is recommended to store any documents not on the system disk, then they will be more secure.

Dear friends, let's talk about how to copy music from disc to computer. Before moving on to this topic, you need to know that music on a disc can be recorded in several ways.

The first is to record mp3 files, just like any other documents. With this method, there are no problems with copying music to your computer. We just open the disk on the computer, select the files and copy them to the desired folder on the computer. Everything is very simple.

The second method is to burn the music onto a copy-protected audio CD. These discs usually contain no more than 20 songs in good quality. Songs from such a disc cannot be simply selected and copied, only shortcuts will be copied. That is, such songs cannot be listened to in the future. Therefore, further we will talk about how to copy a cd disk to a computer.

Install the disc into the floppy drive and launch it. To do this, go to "My Computer" - "Devices with removable media" and double-click on the disk icon.

The disc will start in Windows Media Player. In the upper right corner, click on the "Switch to Library" icon. Let's go to the library.

In the window that opens, you can change the parameters of the copied files from the disk, namely:

  • specify the folder where the files will be copied;
  • select the format of the copied files, for example mp3, WMA, WAV;
  • change the quality of audio tracks, the better the quality, the larger the volume of the audio file will be.

After making changes, click the "Apply" button and close the window.

We return to the library again and in the top menu click "Copy to CD". Here you can select the tracks you want to copy or copy all.

Now we get to the "Rip from CD options". Here you need to select the two lower positions and click the "OK" button.

The copying process will be displayed in the library as a green bar opposite the track. Copying speed depends on the selected quality of the music files.

In this way, you can copy music from a disc to a computer in Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 without installing additional programs, but using the operating system itself.

Music ripping software

In addition to the above described method, there are many more free programs with which you can transfer music from disk to your computer without any problems. Let's take a look at the most popular ones.

Accord CD Ripper Free- Free software for ripping audio CDs to MP3 or WAV files. The program itself has an English interface, but one is quite simple.

- free converter of audio and video files. To record audio files from a CD disc, just insert the disc into the drive and select the "Audio" item in the left sidebar, then the format into which you want to convert the files. Making additional settings and copying. We enjoy the music.

- free converter of audio tracks from CD to MP3, OGG, AAC, WMA or WAV (lossless audio) format.

As you can see, there are many options, choose the one that suits you best and go ahead!

Most music CDs are copy-protected. Opening the list of tracks in the explorer, you will see the files (with the extension .cda), the size of which does not exceed 1Kb. Of course, this is negligible for music files. The fact is that these are shortcuts and, having copied them to the computer, they will run as long as there is a disc in the drive.

But there is a way to transfer normal files (mp3). For this we do not need third-party software, but only a standard player Windows Media Player... Let's run the program through the " Execute". To do this, press the key combination Windows and R... Then, in the text line, enter the command wmplayer.exe and click " OK«.

The program will appear on the screen Windows Media Player... Before we start copying music, let's change some settings. In the list " Arrange"Select the section" Parameters«.

In the program parameters window, go to the " Rip Music from CD". We indicate the format of the music files (best of all mp3) and increase the sound quality (at least 128 kbps, preferably 256 kbps). We confirm the changes made using the buttons " Apply" and " OK«.

A list of all music files will be displayed. Checkmark the tracks (tracks) that need to be transferred to the computer. And select the item " Copy from CD«.

It only remains to wait while the selected tracks are transferred to the computer.
