What gives bathing and pouring for baptism. The rules of treatment with Epiphany water. Where to swim at Epiphany - Northern District of the SAO

On the night of January 18-19, Orthodox Christians around the world celebrate one of their most revered holidays - the Baptism of the Lord, also called the Epiphany, reports "Spark of Light".

WHEN TO FILL WATER?

So, if you are tortured by ailments, stock up on healing Epiphany water. This water, collected on the night of January 18-19, from 0 hours 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes or a little later, from time immemorial was considered miraculous. At this time, "heaven opens" and the prayer addressed to God will be heard.

Our grandparents used it to heal, purify, drive out evil spirits and bad thoughts, sprinkle 8 a person's face or in the corners of a house.
Want to check it out? That's not difficult. Just try to do everything exactly according to the rules carefully preserved in the people's memory.

AFTER THE FIRST STAR

On Christmas Eve, January 18, you cannot eat anything until the first stars appear in the sky. Drink only clean water, try to spend the whole day quietly and calmly, without getting annoyed, without getting into conflicts, clean and tidy the house. In the evening, after the first star, you can have dinner. Prepare glassware with lids, such as 3 liter jars or bottles. Sterilize them thoroughly.

After 0 hours and 10 minutes, fill this dish with water from a well, spring or other clean source. You can and just from the tap. It is advisable to pass it through a purifying filter, but this is not a prerequisite. Draw at least 3 liters and close the jars with lids. It is better to store Epiphany water in a cool dark place. And if in the future, for some reason, you want to pour this water, then in no case pour it into the toilet or sink.

Dilute with plain water and then pour or water the plants (by the way, it has been noticed that undiluted Epiphany water affects plants in different ways: some bloom, others, on the contrary, perish. Therefore, it is better not to risk it and act carefully).

HOW TO TAKE A BATH?

On this night, pour yourself three times with baptismal water or take a bath. Fill the bath from 0:00 to 1:30 cold water from the tap. Cross the water and yourself three times, read the prayer and tap your right fist on your chest three times to induce a vibration of the body in harmony with the vibrations of the water. Then, without screaming or making noise, sit in the bathtub and plunge headlong three times, hitting your chest each time.

Silently get out of the bath (if someone else from your household wants to bathe in Epiphany water, fill up the bath with new water).

Do not dry off immediately; let the water absorb into the skin. During this time, self-massage or tap vigorously all over your body from crown to heels. Then put on warm clothes, underwear, socks, everything new and must have been washed and ironed. Drink herbal tea with honey.

DOES YOUR WATER "KIPIT"?

Does cold water scare you? Are you afraid of a cold? There, dilute cold baptismal water hot to the temperature that you can withstand. Children and the elderly can take a warm bath not at night, but during the day, but you still need to draw water from 0 hours 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.

When bathing, pay attention to how the bath water behaves. If, when immersed in it, the water "boils" or bubbles go, it means that the cleansing process is very active, the evil eye is removed, negative energy comes out.

HOW MUCH TO STORE WATER?

Baptismal water, stored in glassware, can be used for a year or more. This is a very strong energetic water, therefore it is not recommended to drink it constantly. But to take it as medicine, if you are unwell, add it to the bath (from one teaspoon to one glass per bath), rinse your mouth, wash your face, spray your face, eyes, the whole body - it is very useful.

I remind you: you don't need to dry yourself. To cleanse the dwelling, baptismal water is sprinkled in the corners of the rooms, and then a small part of the water is poured into a glass vessel, without closing the lid, and left in the room.

- If God sanctifies all water nature on earth on January 19, why then does the priest consecrate water on this day?

The Lord sanctifies us and everything that surrounds us, not only on the feast of Epiphany. Throughout the year, He gives us grace-filled help and His sanctifying grace. And the established assertion that all watery nature is consecrated in Baptism is based on the fact that in all Orthodox churches, where conditions permit, the rite of the Great Water Consecration is performed on lakes and rivers. It is not the priest who sanctifies the water, but the Lord Himself - by the grace of the Holy Spirit, descending through the prayers of the priest and all people praying to the watery nature and sanctifying water.

It must also be said that sometimes there are situations in life when a person, for objective reasons, cannot be present at the service. For example, a grandmother who cannot leave the house without assistance, or a person who lives very far from the temple. In such cases, a person who has faith in Christ and with all his heart desires to partake of the blessed source of water, but physically cannot be at the place of its consecration, can draw water for himself from the nearest well, source or even water supply, and by his faith he will not receive just a liquid, but water of the great consecration of water. But if a person thinks that the Lord sanctifies the whole watery nature on this day, which means that you can not go to church for service and stay at home, sleep or watch TV, and then turn on the tap and pour yourself water, then such a person is deeply mistaken. He will pour water for himself, but he will not receive gracious help through it.

There is no difference between water consecrated on the eve of the feast on Epiphany Eve or sanctified on the feast of Epiphany itself. The rite of blessing water is performed in temples on these two days in exactly the same way. Water has the same grace-filled power of God, which is sent by the Holy Spirit through the faith of a person. In ancient times, on the eve of the feast of Epiphany, a general baptism was performed for all those who were preparing to become a Christian for this feast. Therefore, the priest on this day performed the rite of blessing the water in which all those preparing were baptized. Subsequently, the practice of common baptisms was used less and less, and the tradition of blessing water on the eve of the holiday remained and organically merged into our liturgical practice.

- John the Baptist performed a ceremony called "baptism". But the very concept of the cross, as a symbol of Christianity, from which the word "baptism" comes, came with the crucifixion of Christ, that is, later than the death of John the Baptist. Then why did John have "baptism" and not, for example, "ablution"?

It should be recalled here that almost the entire New Testament was originally written in Greek. In the Greek original, baptism is indicated by the verb "babtizo" - to immerse. Turning to the Latin translation, we see that the same verb is used here. Already in the Slavic translation, and then in the Russian, the given action was filled with Christian content, since baptism is immersion in the death of Christ, so that, having died to sin, to be resurrected with Christ for eternal life... Since from the 1st century of Christianity, the apostles and their successors performed the sacrament of Baptism commanded by the Lord, respectively, and this event in translations was associated with this sacrament.

- On the day of the Baptism of the Lord, having plunged into an ice font or poured water, can one consider oneself baptized and wear a cross?

Of course not. Baptism is performed by a priest and is a sacrament. There are exceptions when a person is in mortal danger or dies, and there is no priest nearby. Then he can be baptized not by a priest, but simply by a believer, a Christian. But there is no self-baptism. The Church has never known this, since it is impossible to baptize oneself. The Sacrament should not be confused with the pious custom of plunging into the font on the day of Baptism in remembrance of the fact that the Lord entered the waters of the Jordan that day.

- Did they tell me correctly that if an unbaptized person comes to church on January 19 and stands the entire service, then after that he can consider himself baptized and can wear a cross and go to church? And in general, can an unbaptized person go to church?

A person comes to church for various reasons: someone comes simply out of curiosity, someone wants to satisfy their aesthetic hunger, someone - to listen to singing or see the beautiful decoration of the temple. And it also happens that a person comes to church to condemn someone and thus simply find an excuse for his unbelief. People come to the temple with joys and sorrows, thanking God and repenting to Him for their sins, asking for help for their loved ones and praying for the repose of the dead ...

The very fact of a person's coming to church in no way makes an unbaptized person - a baptized person and an unbeliever - a believer. Everything depends on the inner state of a person, on the state of his soul, whether he wants to follow the Divinely revealed truth that the Lord left us in order for us to build our life correctly, creating our personality, and not destroying it. Otherwise, it turns out that a person has entered the church with his body, and his soul is outside these walls and outside of what is happening there. Regarding whether it is possible for an unbaptized person to go to church, it should be said that, naturally, no one hinders this desire. Tourists enter the temple, Jews, Muslims, and absolutely non-believers. And, if a person behaves decently, no one will expel him from the temple. But the person himself, of course, must think about the meaning of his life and find a conscious way to the temple.

- Can I throw it away glass bottle, in which the holy water was kept, in the trash can? If not, what to do with it?

If the bottle in which the holy water was kept is empty, then, naturally, it should be refilled with holy water taken from a church or from a holy spring. If the container in which holy water or consecrated oil was previously stored has become unusable, then it should not be disposed of like ordinary garbage. There is a good, pious tradition, according to which everything that was associated with the shrine - pieces of paper in which prosphora were wrapped, bubbles of holy oil or holy water and other items purchased in the church and for various reasons that have become unusable, are not thrown away together with garbage, and burned. And those objects that do not burn are buried in the ground in an unsupported place, for example, in your garden.

- My daughter is 6 months old, and when I bathe her, I add holy water to the bath. Can this water be drained later?

I would not advise adding holy water to the bath, since there is the Sacrament of Baptism, in which the Lord places the seed of eternal life in a person's soul. The sacrament of Baptism is unrepeatable. You can drink the holy water that we take in the church throughout the year, you can wash your child with it, but you should not add water while bathing, because, as you yourself have noticed, it has to be drained into the sewer. It is necessary for the child to partake of the Holy Mysteries of Christ as often as possible. Then a person will develop spiritually correctly. This is especially necessary for a child, because in the first five years a person receives 50% of all information that he perceives throughout his life. And parents are responsible before God for the child, which way he will go. Only by approaching God, to Christ, is it possible to develop harmoniously the personality, mental and spiritual abilities. This is how the Lord intended man.

- Is it obligatory to swim at Epiphany?

Swimming, or, more precisely, immersion in water on this day, of course, is not necessary, since this is not conditioned by church rules, but is only a pious tradition. This tradition - to submerge in the water for Epiphany - is ancient, and in Russia it has been for many centuries. Believers want to immerse themselves in the waters of the Jordan, as it were, with Christ. Although we stand apart both historically and geographically from the time and place where the Lord Jesus Christ with His flesh enters the waters of the Jordan, nevertheless, on the day of the Baptism of the Lord, we can, according to our faith, partake of this event. However, no priest should force anyone to participate in this traditional Epiphany immersion. The initiative must come from the person himself who is willing and determined to join this tradition.

- And if there is no frost, will the bathing be Epiphany?

Where the Lord received Baptism, frosts are generally rare. Our faith or disbelief does not depend on climatic conditions, on the weather outside. If a person with faith and with the knowledge that by this action he remembers and, as it were, participates in the perfect by our Lord Jesus Christ in the waters of our Jordan for the sake of salvation, then this water immersion will be meaningful and will bring spiritual joy to a person.

The rite of baptism of Christ at his request was performed by John the Baptist. During his baptism on the Jordan River, the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus in the form of a dove. At the same time, a Voice from Heaven proclaimed: "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." According to Christian teachings, it was on this day that God appeared in three persons: God the Father - in the voice, the Son of God - in the flesh, the Holy Spirit - in the form of a dove. Therefore, the feast of Epiphany is often called the Epiphany. The feast of the Baptism of the Lord is very important. It is believed that it was baptism that revealed the Savior to the world, who took upon himself all the sins of mankind. John Chrysostom wrote about this. And it was from the moment of baptism that Jesus began to preach the word of God and enlighten people.

Until now, the main traditions of the Epiphany holiday are associated with water. And the clergy on the feast of Epiphany, according to tradition, puts on white vestments.

How to Celebrate the Baptism of the Lord

The celebration of the Baptism of the Lord (January 19) begins the day before - January 18. This day is called Epiphany Christmas Eve, as well as Hungry Kutia. By analogy with Christmas Eve, on the day before the feast of the Epiphany, it is necessary observe strict fast... Also on the eve of the feast of the Epiphany, Orthodox cooked lean kutya... A festive dinner on Epiphany Christmas Eve was called "hungry booze". The obligatory dish of this meal was kutia, pancakes, oatmeal jelly.

An important event of the Baptism of the Lord and the Epiphany is blessing of water... On the river or on the lake, in the ice, a cruciform polynya called Jordan is cut in advance. At midnight, the priests consecrate the water in the hole, and the believers bathe in the consecrated water. People are not afraid of the cold because baptism bathing - this is a symbolic cleansing from sins, spiritual rebirth. Believers look forward to the Feast of the Epiphany, and when the Baptism of the Lord comes, the Orthodox must attend churchto remember the wonderful event that changed the world.

How to swim for Epiphany

For believers, bathing for Baptism means communion with the special grace of the Lord, which he sends to all the waters on this day. It is also believed that water for Baptism brings health, both bodily and spiritual. At the same time, the church warns against giving this tradition any magical meaning.

  • Bathing rules for Epiphany
Holes or Jordan, in which people bathe at Epiphany, are consecrated. There are no hard and fast rules for those wishing to plunge into Jordan for Epiphany. But nevertheless, it is customary to quickly plunge headlong into the water 3 times, while baptizing and saying: In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Traditionally, it is believed that on Epiphany you need to swim in shirts, not swimsuits, so as not to flaunt your bodies.

Epiphany water - wonderful healing properties

In all the springs consecrated in the Baptism of the Lord, water becomes holy and healing. It is believed, and this has many confirmations, that the baptismal holy water has miraculous and healing properties:

  • Believers take it with them - baptismal holy water has the ability not to deteriorate for a long time.
  • Epiphany water is drunk throughout the year on an empty stomach, it is carefully kept as a shrine and treats diseases, both physical and mental.
  • Holy baptismal water can be sprinkled on a home to drive out evil spirits and bring the grace of God into the house.

Where to get Epiphany holy water

If you want to collect the blessed baptismal water after swimming, it is not necessary to come with canisters. A small bottle is enough. According to Christian canons, any water can be made holy if you add a little Epiphany to it - from a temple or from Jordan. Festive services will be held in all Orthodox churches on the night from 18 to 19. But it is not necessary to come on this day. As explained in the Moscow Patriarchate, water becomes holy after a special prayer service for water. Access to containers with baptismal water will be open in churches for several days. In addition, at Epiphany, as expected, queues will line up for holy water, and it will be difficult to drive up to the temples. Due to safety rules, parking near temples closer than 50 meters is prohibited on major religious holidays.

When to collect baptismal water

The Rite of the Great Consecration of Water (Great Agiasma) is performed on Epiphany Eve (January 18) after the Divine Liturgy and on January 19 - on the very day of the Baptism of the Lord. During both days, you can draw Epiphany water in any church. Both times the water is blessed with the same rite, so there is no difference when to draw water - on Christmas Eve or on the Feast of Epiphany itself.

If you decide to take Epiphany water from the tap and want to borrow, when is it better to do it. It is better to collect water for Epiphany in the time interval from 00:10 to 01:30 on the night of January 18-19. However, you can collect Epiphany water later - until 24:00 on January 19.

What you need to know before collecting water for Epiphany:

  • it is better to collect baptismal water not mindlessly, but after participating in a church service (in church) or prayer (at home);
  • you need to pour water for Epiphany in a bowl without any marking - it is better in a special jug or flask bought in a church shop (in no case in a beer bottle)

It is believed that Epiphany water has healing properties. You can drink it when you are sick on an empty stomach and wash your face to be healthy. You need to drink baptismal holy water with prayer, asking the Almighty for spiritual and physical health. And it is not at all necessary to take it in reserve; there should be a lot of faith, not water.

Baptism - folk traditions

Previously, there were special folk traditions of celebrating the Epiphany or Epiphany. For example, at Epiphany it was customary to release doves - as a sign of Divine grace that descended on Jesus Christ. Other folk traditions for Epiphany are known from legend.

In Russia, on the day of the Baptism of the Lord, as soon as the first church bell calls for Matins, the pious believers kindled a fire on the shore so that Jesus Christ, who was baptized in Jordan, could also warm up by the fire.

They began to cook the Jordan a week before Epiphany: they cut through the wormwood on the river, sawed out a large cross and put it over the hole. The throne was also cut out of the ice. The "royal gates" were decorated with Christmas tree branches.

On the morning of the holiday, after the service, everyone went to the river. After the consecration of the water in the river, all those gathered gathered it into their dishes. It was believed that the sooner you scoop it up, the holier it will be. There were daredevils who swam in the Jordan, remembering that one cannot catch a cold in the consecrated water.

Then everyone went home. And while the women were setting the table, the eldest man in the family sprinkled the entire household with Epiphany water. Before eating, everyone drank holy water. After eating, the girls hurried to the river - to wash in "Jordanian water" "so that their faces were pink."

After Epiphany it was forbidden to wash clothes in the river. According to legend, when a priest immerses the cross in water, all the evil spirits jump out of fear from there, and then sits on the shore and waits for someone with dirty laundry to appear. As soon as the linen is lowered in the river, along it, like a ladder, all the evil spirits go into the water. Therefore, it was believed that the later women begin to wash, the more wickedness will freeze from Epiphany frosts.

Divination for Baptism

There were other traditions - it was believed that miracles occur at Epiphany midnight: for a moment the wind subsides, complete silence reigns and the heavens open. At this time, you can express your cherished desire, which will certainly come true.

There is another tradition for Epiphany, which, however, is not approved by the church. January 19 ends Christmastide - the period of fortune-telling in Russia. On Epiphany night, the girls tried to understand what awaited them in the future, whether they would marry, whether the year would be successful.

Baptism - folk signs

Since ancient times, many folk signs have been associated with Baptism. Many of them were associated with the economic activities of peasants or predicted the weather. For example, folk signs for Epiphany read:

  • If on Epiphany the weather is clear and cold, the summer will be dry; cloudy and fresh - to a bountiful harvest.
  • A full month for Epiphany is a great spring flood.
  • Starry night for Epiphany - summer will be dry, harvest for peas and berries.
  • On Epiphany there will be a thaw - for the harvest, and a clear day for Epiphany - for a crop failure.
  • The wind will blow from the south for Epiphany - there will be a stormy summer.
  • If during the liturgy, especially while walking on the water, it snows, then the next year is expected to be grain-growing, and there will be many swarms of bees.

When for Epiphany dogs barked a lot, waited for a successful hunting season: If dogs bark a lot at Epiphany, there will be plenty of all kinds of animals and game. On Epiphany, chickens are not fed so that they do not dig gardens in the summer and spoil the seedlings.

The folk Russian calendar connects the holiday of Epiphany with frost. Epiphany frosts: “Crack frost, do not crack, but Vodokreshchi is gone.

By midnight, young people become more active, who meet Baptism, as well as New Year - after twelve. The influx of people to the font dries up only in the morning. By the way, the number of swimming men and women is about the same.

The main thing is repentance

The Church warns against imparting any magical character to baptismal bathing and emphasizes that baptismal bathing is not a canonical institution of the Church, but only a tradition, along with Christmastide rites.

At Epiphany, water is consecrated for drinking, the consecration of the home. You can plunge into an ice hole at Epiphany at will, but not necessarily, especially since it is an inevitable and unjustified risk to health. The sacrament of baptism in the church after birth has already been performed over every Orthodox Christian, and dipping into the baptismal font no longer carries that mysterious meaning. The main thing in the life of every person is repentance, correction of life, striving for God.

Our advice!

The baptismal water cannot be wiped off the face - it must be allowed to dry. After bathing, you need to rub yourself, dress quickly and warm your legs. The best remedy for warming - hot tea with lemon.

Who is contraindicated to swim in the ice hole

Short-term exposure to low temperatures is perceived by the body as a positive stress: it relieves inflammation, pain, swelling, spasm. But to swim in the ice hole on Epiphany without consequences can only be a healthy person, without inflammatory and chronic diseases.

Winter swimming in an ice hole can cause high blood pressure, headaches, palpitations, especially for those people who decide to swim in winter for the first time in their lives. Health problems can occur in people with diseases of the urinary system. Bathing in ice water can exacerbate prostatitis in men and adnexitis in women, exacerbate kidney diseases such as pyelonephritis or glomerulonephritis.

Unpleasant consequences can be in people with joint diseases, which after bathing will be reminded of osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis, pain in the spine.

It is dangerous to swim in an ice-hole on Epiphany for people with tumors, chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, diseases of the cardiovascular system, especially in the acute stage. Gradual hardening can help hypertensive patients lower their blood pressure, and a sudden immersion in ice water can even cause death. With a sharp drop in temperature, blood vessels, already constricted, contract even more, as a result, you can earn a stroke, heart attack.

Signs: born in Baptism - marked by God

In the old days, a bowl of water was placed on the table to see the Baptism of the Lord. At the same time they said: "At night the water itself sways." If at midnight the water in the bowl really swayed, they ran to watch the “open heavens” - what you pray to the open sky, it will come true.

It is believed that cleaning must be done before Epiphany, but on Epiphany and three days after it is impossible - water is considered holy. It never deteriorates and has healing properties. The Orthodox keep the consecrated water near the icons, use it for illnesses, consecration of houses. As it is spent, ordinary water can be added to holy water - even one drop of Epiphany water can consecrate any amount of ordinary water.

In the villages before Epiphany, old women and girls collected snow from haystacks. Old ladies - in order to bleach the canvas. And the girls bleached their faces. They believed that the snow collected on Epiphany evening was healing. And a newborn born in Baptism was considered marked by God.

That evening, returning from the church, people painted crosses over windows and doors in the house with chalk or stove ash. It was believed that this would help protect the house from evil spirits for a whole year.

On the night of January 18-19, Orthodox Christians around the world celebrate one of their most revered holidays - the Baptism of the Lord, also called the Holy Epiphany. Epiphany water, which is brought into the house on the Eve of Epiphany and Epiphany, is considered special.

It does not deteriorate for several years, retaining its structure. This water is treated and sprinkled on the dwelling. Epiphany water also helps in many other cases.
According to the priests, it is considered Epiphany from January 18 to 19. It so happened historically that there are two liturgies, after which water is consecrated. One in the evening, one in the morning. Therefore, it can be recruited for two days.

When to get water?
Water collected on the night of January 18-19, from 0 hours 10 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes or a little later, from time immemorial was considered miraculous. At this time, "heaven opens" and the prayer addressed to God will be heard.
Our grandparents used it to heal, purify, drive out evil spirits and bad thoughts, sprinkle it on a person's face or in the corners of a house.

It is advisable to pass it through a cleaning filter, but this is not a prerequisite. Draw at least 3 liters and close the jars with lids.
It is better to store Epiphany water in a cool dark place. And if in the future, for some reason, you want to pour this water out, then in no case pour it into the toilet or sink.
Dilute with plain water and then pour or water the plants (by the way, it has been noticed that undiluted Epiphany water affects plants in different ways: some bloom, others, on the contrary, perish. Therefore, it is better not to risk it and act prudently).
How to use baptismal water
For those who managed to stock up on the most active Epiphany water, and it doesn't matter where you got it - from a water supply system, from an open source or brought it from a church - scientists remind you to drink it regularly, preferably every day and on an empty stomach.
It perfectly raises immunity and makes a person resistant to many infections. Epiphany water is a psychotherapeutic tool for relieving increased anxiety, irritability, so after a hard, nervous day, drink half a glass of holy water - and you will feel how the tension goes away, peace and tranquility come. For example, if a child is regularly given such water to drink, he will catch colds less often.
It is useful not only to drink Epiphany water, but also to wash your face with it in the morning and at night.
It will also not be superfluous to give baptismal water to animals and water the plants. Baptismal water is used for washing, irrigation and drinking.
How to take a bath?
On this night, pour yourself three times with Epiphany water or take a bath. Fill the tub with cold tap water between 0 hours 10 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes. Cross the water and yourself three times, read the prayer and bang your right fist on your chest three times to vibrate the body in harmony with the vibrations of the water.
Then, without yelling and noise, sit in the bathtub and plunge headlong three times, hitting your chest each time.
Silently get out of the bath (if someone else from your household wants to bathe in Epiphany water, fill up the bath with new water).
Do not dry off immediately; let the water absorb into the skin. During this time, self-massage or tap vigorously all over your body from crown to heels. Then put on warm clothes, underwear, socks, everything new and always washed and ironed. Drink herbal tea with honey.
Ablution and irrigation
Bathing is optional, the priests say. This work is blessed, but not obligatory. After all, people are different, someone can swim in icy water in winter, but someone does not, someone is not useful - the state of health is such that it is beyond their strength. The Church does not demand from a person a feat beyond his strength.
In order to get the most bioactive Epiphany effect without leaving your home and bathing in the frost in the ice-hole, you need to wait half past one in the night and for the next half hour wash, take a shower or a bath from Epiphany tap water, drink a little of this unusual water from the tap.
While bathing, read a prayer or just say to yourself the following words: "The water takes away all sorrows and sorrows, my heart and soul are pure."
The results of studies by the method of dowsing show that it immediately affects the body, raises the size of the human biofield tens and hundreds of times, energizes and has a healing effect.
And it doesn't matter where you swam, in the ice hole or in the bathroom, the blessed power of Epiphany water is one. And it does not depend on the temperature of the water, not on its quantity and quality, but on the person's faith.
The most favorable time for water procedures is from 0 to 2 am on January 19.
At this time, the Energy charge of water, even ordinary water from any spring or well, is at its maximum.
Holy water (consecrated in the church) is applied to sore spots. And it is not necessary to pour it abundantly - it is enough to simply anoint the sore spot with it crosswise. The essence of the procedure is not in the duration of exposure, but in the very contact with miraculous water.
In ancient times, women collected Epiphany snow from stacks - it was believed that washing with melted Epiphany water bestows beauty and prolongs youth. Rinse your face and chest with it. You don't need to towel dry - let the water soak into your skin.
How much water to store?
Baptismal water, stored in glassware, can be used throughout the year. This is a very strong energetic water, therefore it is not recommended to drink it constantly. But to take it as a medicine, if you are unwell, add to the bath (from one teaspoon to one glass per bath), rinse your mouth, wash your face, spray your face, eyes, the whole body - it is very useful.
You don't need to dry yourself. To cleanse the dwelling, baptismal water is sprinkled in the corners of the rooms, and then a small part of the water is poured into a glass vessel without closing the lid and left in the room.
