The Importance of Surah Al-Ikhlas

In the hadith cited by Muslim and other muhaddis from Abu Hurairah, it is said that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Reading Surah Al-Ikhlas is comparable to reading a third of the Quran.”

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful!

This surah was revealed in Mecca. It consists of 4 verses. The Prophet - may Allah bless him and grant him peace! - they asked about his Lord. And in this sura he is ordered to answer that He is the Possessor of all perfect qualities, He is the One and only. They constantly turn to Him for help in need. He doesn't need anyone. There is no one like Him and there is no one like Him. He neither begat nor was He begotten, and among His creation there is none equal to Him or similar to Him.

112:1. Say, O Muhammad, to those who mocked you and told you to describe your Lord to them: “He is Allah, the One and Only. And He has no partners.

To the reader of Surah Al-Ikhlas, the Almighty will send thousands of angels who will build cities and palaces for him and grow various trees around them, emitting aroma and bending with fruits. Wherever he steps, the earth will rejoice in him. He will die having been forgiven of his sins. When he appears before Allah Almighty, He will tell him: “Rejoice! Let your eyes rejoice in everything that has been given to you from My bounties!” The angels will marvel at his closeness to God and the honor shown to him. Allah orders the Guardian Tablet (al-Lawh al-Mahfuz) to announce the reward given to him for reading Surah Al-Ikhlas. She will read to him and all the inhabitants of heaven, amazed at her size, will exclaim: “Pure is our Lord from all that is not due to Him! Is there such a reward in Paradise?” The Almighty will answer them: “I will prepare all this for My servant!” Try to always read this surah, because reading it will help you avoid hellfire! If anyone reads this surah once, then seventy thousand angels will testify that he will be awarded Paradise. He will be credited with the reward for the labors of seven hundred thousand angels. Allah Almighty, knowing better about his needs, will say: “Find out what My servant needs, and give him what he wants!”

Everyone who constantly recites Surah Al-Ikhlas will be classified by the Almighty as one of the successful ones who rises to worship and observes fasting. When the Day of Resurrection comes, the angels will exclaim: “O Lord! This man loves Your qualities!” The Almighty will say: “You all must accompany him to Paradise!” And then they will all lead him to Paradise as they lead the bride to the groom’s house. When he enters Paradise, the angels, seeing all his palaces there and realizing how great the degree of rewards prepared for him, will exclaim: “O our Lord! Prayer "Allah Akbar"

“Allah Akbar” translated from Arabic means the great Lord. This phrase recognizes the power and might of the Almighty. In the Muslim religion, “Allah Akbar” is a formula for recognizing the Greatness of God. This phrase emphasizes obedience to Allah, it is one of the phrases that reflects true obedience to the Almighty, an oath of denial of other powers and dominations.

Every Muslim child understands what Allah Akbar means. This sacred phrase sounds on the lips of Muslims throughout their lives, and these words accompany all the deeds of the faithful. This phrase is always heard in Islamic prayers. It is treated as a separate prayer request.

It can be translated as follows:

“Thy will be done. Great Allah, not mine."

It is incorrect to treat this expression as a war cry. It is rather a reminder to the faithful that regardless of the current situation, God is Great and Almighty. It must be remembered that success and happiness for a Muslim comes from Allah, his whole life depends on him. A believer says “Allahu Akbar” when he is very frightened and after that his soul will certainly calm down. Because he will remember that everything is in the hands of God. Using this phrase you can also remove anger from the soul, calm down and prevent wrong actions. This prayer expression is also pronounced in moments of joy and success as a sign of thanksgiving to God.

The name of the 112th sura of the Holy Quran is translated from Arabic as “Purification” (of faith) or “Sincerity”. It is quite small in volume. And those who begin to get acquainted with Islam, as a rule, are among the first to memorize it. There is a deep meaning in these four short verses.

The circumstances of the revelation of this surah are described by a hadith, in which, from the words of Ubay ibn Ka'b, the following is conveyed: “The idolaters said to the Messenger of the Almighty (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): “Muhammad, tell us the genealogy (or origin) of your Lord.”

Surah Al-Ikhlas serves as a kind of order, a message to the polytheists. It reminds the truth to those who are destined to be among the lost, having strayed from the righteous path.

The place where this surah was sent down to the Prophet (s.a.w.) was Mecca. Then many turned to idols when worshiping, thereby committing one of the greatest sins - shirk.

The lost were of the opinion that each tribe had its own god. In the Musnad, narrated by Imam Ahmed, there is a hadith about a pagan who asked the Prophet (s.a.w.): “O Muhammad, bring the genealogy of Allah.

What tribe is He from? Then the Almighty sent down Surah al-Ikhlas. There are many hadiths telling about the greatness and great significance of the 112th sura.

Muslims know that reading it three times corresponds to reading a third of the Koran. Perhaps this is precisely why newcomers who have just converted to Islam study Surah Al-Ikhlas in the first place.

The hadith of the Prophet (s.a.w.) says: “If anyone reads Surah Al-Ikhlas, he will be credited as having read a third of the Qur’an” (Abu Dawud).

Unfortunately, few people now find time to study or systematically read the Qur'an.

However, instead of wasting time, it is much more beneficial to devote a few minutes to reading the verses from Al-Ikhlas.

It is also known from the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) that those who loved this surah were granted Paradise during their lifetime.

It is narrated from at-Tirmidhi: “During the time of the Prophet, there lived one man who was an imam in the tribe of Banu Salam.

In each rak'ah of prayer he performed, he first read Surah Al-Ikhlas and only then other surahs. The Muslims were surprised at this.

These people approached the imam and expressed dissatisfaction. To which he replied that he loved this surah and would also continue to read it.

Muslims, in search of truth, went to the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.), complained and asked for an answer.

Muhammad (s.g.w.) called this imam to him and asked a question: “People said that you read Al-Ikhlas in every rak’ah.”

Tell me why you do this?” To this the imam again replied that he loved her.

After which the Prophet (s.g.w.) pleased him with the great news: “Truly, love for her will lead you to Paradise” (at-Tirmidhi).
