For example, cranberry compote is not only a refreshing, tasty drink, but also a healthy addition to your diet. After all, this small berry contains a huge amount of biologically active substances.

Cooking principles

Cranberries have a pronounced sour taste, which not everyone likes. It is for this reason that this product is rarely consumed fresh. You can, of course, sprinkle the berries with sugar, but it is better, and, most importantly, healthier, to cook a compote from them.

In the fall, you can easily find cranberries in almost any market or store. However, it is advisable to use fruits collected from your own plot. In this case, you will be confident in their environmental friendliness and absolute benefits. For compote, it is necessary to collect fully ripe, dense berries that will not have rotten areas or other damage.

On a note! Unripe cranberries will be too sour, which may affect the taste of the finished drink.

If the harvest is too large, then the cranberries should be frozen or sprinkled with sugar. In this form, it is much more suitable for making compote, since the juice will separate much more actively.

Preparation of the main ingredient

Before cooking cranberry compote, the berries must be carefully sorted. We discard all plant debris, pour the fruits into a colander and rinse them in several waters. Then we leave them over the sink so that excess liquid drains away.

As for dishes, for compote you should select a large saucepan, at least 3 liters. In general, its volume will depend on how many berries you will use, and how much drink you want to get out of it.
