You can make beautiful flower beds with your own hands from improvised means, using bricks, old tires, plastic bottles and multi-colored paints.

Creating a flower garden from car tires

Do-it-yourself tire flower beds are the most effective and cost-effective solution. The flexible and resilient structure of car tires allows you to give products the most bizarre shape.

Car enthusiasts simply throw old tires in a landfill, where they lie for years and pollute the surrounding nature. Giving a second life to unnecessary tires, you not only decorate the flower garden, but also take care of the environment. Finished products can be painted in various colors, complement the composition with other ornamental materials, creating unique landscape elements. The photo below shows the organic combination of vibrant decorative flowers and the painted surface of the flower bed.

Advantages of decorative waste rubber products

A variety of do-it-yourself tire flower beds amaze with their uniqueness and original design. In addition, landscape design items have a lot of other advantages:

 • uncomplicated manufacturing technology;
 • the ability to create unusual shapes;
 • aesthetics of decorative elements;
 • the finished product can be painted;
 • small expenses (purchase of paints and varnishes).

There are practically no drawbacks to this method of manufacturing landscape decorations. The only limitation is a personal rejection of the use of old tires and a reluctance to spend personal time and energy on creating street flowerpots.

To create spectacular flower beds from tires with your own hands photo further, you do not have to be a professional decorator. It is enough to realize your creativity and spend some money and free time.

Varieties of flower beds and methods of decorating the site

Flower beds made of wheel tires can be:

 • high and low;
 • single-tiered and multi-tiered;
 • in the form of flora or fauna;
 • suspended structures.

Advice! To make the simplest flower beds from tires with your own hands, you need to paint them in bright colors and arrange them one above the other.

In addition to used tires, to create a flower garden you will need: a sharp knife, paint, stones of different sizes, the remains of building materials. After the location and shape of the future flower bed has been determined, you can start working.

The simplest is the shape of the flower. The larger the tire, the larger the tire bed will be. For work, it is better to use already used soft thin rubber of European production. The tire is pre-cleaned, washed and dried well. After that, the contours of the petals are applied with chalk. The selected areas are cut out and the upper part is removed.

Enamel, nitro paint or oil paint are used as a decorative coating. The paint and varnish material is applied to a clean, dry surface. If desired, you can use a spray can or car paint.

Advice! So that the roots of the planted plants do not "burn out" in the decorative flower garden, the flower bed should be painted in the lightest shades possible.

How to make a flower bed from a tire in several tiers? To create a multi-tiered flower bed, you need to pick up several tires of different or the same circumference. The middle is carefully cut out of them in such a way as to get a circle. A large tire is installed first, its base is lined with expanded clay or crushed stone, and a fertile soil layer is poured on top. Subsequent smaller tires are installed in the same way. The number of tiers depends on the desire and the selected elements. Flowering plants are planted in the space between the rings.

One of the most elegant creations of the old protectors is the swan flower bed.

A snow-white painted car tire can become a real masterpiece of landscape design.

It is necessary to retreat four centimeters from the edge of the tire and make two similarly rounded cuts on opposite sides. The middle section will become the neck, and the wings are cut from the wide part.

For the wings to appear, the tire must be turned out. Plumage can be created using cuts of various lengths. The wings are exposed at will, at any angle. At the end of the work, the swan is painted white.

How to make a flower bed from a tire is clearly shown in the photo.

Various uses for plastic containers

Quite often, multi-colored plastic bottles are used to create decorative soda compositions. Transparent packaging plastic is a fairly strong and reliable material, so flower beds made of plastic bottles will last for more than a dozen years. For work, you can use containers of green, white, red, yellowish, blue and even black colors. Each color is suitable for the embodiment of a particular idea.

The easiest way to create a flower bed from plastic bottles is to lay out the original drawing using an empty container.

A decorative flower bed, created with your own hands from scrap materials - a photo of a beautiful lake with two herons and aquatic vegetation.

To create an artistic composition, you need to use the required number of bottles of a certain color.

Advice! It is not recommended to paint plastic containers, because over time the paint can crack, and a flower bed made of plastic bottles will lose its attractive appearance.

Under the created composition, it is necessary to dig a small pit of the required size. For stability, the bottles are filled with sand and then buried according to the drawing.

Plastic, unique in its qualities, can be used to make various animals and birds, gnomes and other fairy-tale characters. With the help of plastic bottles, artistic illustrations are created for any children's fairy tale. It can be "Kolobok", "The Frog Princess" or "Three Little Pigs". The gardeners really liked the graceful bees - they are easy to make from small yellow and black bottles. The lightweight wings are made of clear plastic.

Do-it-yourself decorative figures and a small flower bed of plastic bottles are shown below.

Formation of a flower bed using bricks

The use of bricks allows you to create the most luxurious and unusual flower beds. Most often, flower beds of a geometric shape are made of bricks with their own hands: round, square or rectangular. If desired, you can make an original multistage or acute-angled structure.

The easiest way is to make a brick border. The decorative fence does not retain moisture, but maintains clear boundaries of the flower garden. By laying a brick with its end, it is possible to significantly reduce the erosion of the soil, but in this case the cost of a brick flower bed will slightly increase due to an increase in material consumption.

Making round brick beds is a little more difficult. To create a rounded shape, you need to use halves of the brick, which will need to be pre-cut.

The multi-tiered brick beds look great on the personal plot, they include several flower beds of different heights. The erection of a structure of such complexity will be a matter of special pride for the owners.

Flower beds with decorative gravel

Making a flower bed with your own hands from improvised means is an exciting activity that you can do, not only on your own, but also connect the whole family to the creative process. An interesting and exciting hobby will not only help to equip a personal plot in an original and tasteful way, but also have a great free time.

Not a single summer cottage is complete without a flower bed: flowers adorn the yard and delight the eye, a successful composition is the pride of the owners. If you add a fancy design from unconventional materials to the beauty of flowers, you can create unique floristic masterpieces that have the exclusivity of your idea. To do this, you need to take a fresh look at some of the things that we usually throw in the landfill, or they gather dust in the barn for years. What can be used to create an original flower bed? Let's try to figure it out.

Features:

A flower bed is a kind of frame for a picture of natural splendor. Even modest wildflowers and cereals, decorated in the form of a flower bed, become a work of art. Vases and pots with plants, installed on the porch or suspended in pots, transform the entrance area and make it hospitable.

Many gardeners make their own flower beds in the garden. To make a flower bed beautiful, it must be properly decorated.

Garden flower beds are organized in several ways.

The most common shape of the flower bed is rectangular or round. Bright annual or perennial flowers are often planted here. Such a flower garden stands out against the background of a garden or yard with a bright floristic spot. The technique for creating such a flower bed is quite simple. A plot of the desired size or shape is dug up, the necessary fertilizers are introduced into it, and flowers zoned for this area are planted.

If the composition of the soil is not suitable for the selected colors, the topsoil is removed, replacing it with the desired one.

A flower bed can be designed in the form of a long ribbon composition located along the path, being its natural border and background. The laborious process of replacing the soil will be inappropriate here. It is worth dwelling on the varieties and types of plants suitable for the existing soil. Such a flower garden is called discount.

Recently, an indispensable attribute of the suburban area of steel rockeries... Natural or natural stone is laid out in a certain shape, soil is poured in between the stones and flowers or conifers are planted. This technique creates an artificial relief of rocky terrain (stones are the limiters of the flower bed). Rockery is not difficult to make even for a beginner.

The main condition is the fact that the flower bed must have a certain shape and sufficient size so as not to resemble a pile of stones.

Any ornamental plants that the owners of the dacha like are planted in rockeries.

Collectors of rare mountain plants often design their plantings in the form alpine slide... It differs from rockery by the approach of soil composition and plant species to the natural alpine landscape. To create a rock garden, special rocks are purchased, the gaps are covered with fine gravel mixed with soil. Flowers or miniature conifers with a root system adapted to such a soil are planted in these pockets.

Junipers, arabis trees, ground cover succulents take root well in such flower beds.

The favorite type of flower garden in summer cottages is mixborder(flower garden of different plants). Tall specimens are placed in the background, low ones in the foreground, so that each plant appears in all its glory. According to this principle, front gardens are arranged in traditional styles of site design. Mixborders decorate the entrance area and the adjoining territory.

Enthusiasts add color to flower beds using materials at hand, for example, making a flower bed out of tires, an old suitcase or outdated furniture. Mixborders, rockeries are decorated with such unusual flower beds, or set as a separate accent in the garden. These compositions take up little space and can be used for vertical gardening. The climbing plants are supported by specially installed high stumps or picturesque driftwood. They are treated with antifungal drugs to increase their lifespan.

Layout

When starting to create a flower bed, you need to stock up on a site plan, because the flower garden will be located in this place for many years. It is necessary to take into account the illumination, irrigation methods, the presence of natural relief, the composition of the soil, the surrounding vegetation and structures. Plants are selected based on all of the listed factors. Plants are planted in one flower bed with the same requirements for illumination, soil acidity and irrigation regime.

A drought-resistant plant next to a moisture-loving plant will suffer from excess water, its decorative effect will decrease, and the general appearance of the composition will lose from this.

If desired, the choice is made in favor of annual or perennial plantings. Annuals bloom beautifully and violently, but require constant care for growing seedlings and annual spring planting. Perennial flowers, ornamental shrubs and conifers are a permanent structure of the flower garden, they keep the composition throughout the growing season.

Flowers need to be selected according to the flowering time, so that the flowerbed looks decorative all season. At the same time, early flowering bulbous plants are laid, they are replaced by plants of summer flowering periods, then autumn chrysanthemums, dahlias, gladioli enter.

The layout of a flower garden implies the distribution of the selected plants over the area of the flower bed in a certain order. Tall views are placed in the background (the closer to the foreground, the lower the height). They mark the place of each plant on the plan, taking into account its growth: in the early years, empty spaces can be planted with annuals.

Landscape designers advise planting several plants of the same species in a group to create mass in the flower garden.

A single flower will not be able to create enough color spots in the composition. The effect of repetition is often used (the same plants are planted in several places of the flower bed). When planning, the color of foliage and inflorescences should be taken into account: they should be in harmony with each other on a limited piece of land. You can make a monochrome flower bed (for example, white, blue or pink, consisting of flowers of the same color).

How to do it?

The beds can be simple horizontal, on the ground, or vertical. Vertical decorative flower beds have become quite fashionable in recent years; they are used when space is limited, if you need to decorate a fence or wall of a building.

You can make such flower beds with your own hands. This will take some time, but the result will be pleasing for many years. Designers suggest using all kinds of materials for decorating flower arrangements; most of these materials are available in many farms.

From natural materials

The flowerbed can have a smooth transition to the natural turf covering of the site, or be limited by a border:

 • A simple border is made of hemp, natural stone, pebbles. Step by step, this process consists of the following operations: a trench is dug along the contour of the flower garden, then a stone in the form of a wall is laid in this trench to the desired height. If necessary, the walls can be fastened with cement mortar. It is good if the material of the curb and the covering of the tracks are made in the same style. When finishing, take into account the color of the stones. Rockery looks harmoniously with natural stone paths.

 • Another type of border is pebble or round stone trim. On the border of the flower bed, formwork of the required height is installed in the trench, reinforced with reinforcement and poured with cement. After drying, the outer side is trimmed with pebbles, which are planted in a cement mortar. The inside is filled with earth, then the plants are planted.
 • Recently, the device of gabions for the border of the flower bed has gained popularity... In this case, a pocket of the required height and width is constructed from a reinforcing lattice; pebbles are poured into this pocket, which is held by the lattice. The fenced part is covered with earth and planted with plants.

 • It is enough just to make a pot of concrete. This will require two basins of different diameters, wrapped in cellophane (a cellophane layer is needed for better separation of forms). The pots are inserted into one another, cement mortar is poured between them, after drying, the pots are removed, decorating the concrete form as desired. The pot is decorated with stone, mosaics, shells, sand, and painted with oil paints.

Natural wood

If the terrain is not abundant in stone, but there are forests around, it is better to use wood cuts. For the device of such a flower bed, remove wood from the middle of the stump, fill the cavity with soil mixture and plant the plants. Stumps are placed in groups or singly to decorate the garden. Perhaps, on the territory there is already a stump from a sawn tree, and hands do not reach to uproot it. It is worth hollowing out the middle of the stump and making a small flower bed in it.

After a few years, the stump itself will rot from moisture and earth, but for several years it will be the original decor of the site.

An old log or log can be easily turned into a fantasy flower bed by scraping out the top. The result is a rectangular cavity suitable for flower cultivation. Hemp is also useful for creating tall decorative beds. In terms of aesthetics, such beds will replace a flower bed, at the same time they will become a source of beauty and benefit.

Various driftwood can become a material for arranging a flower garden: their service life is limited by the lifetime of the wood.

A wattle wicker made of thin branches or vines will be an excellent decorative decoration for a flower bed. The fascinating weaving of wattle fence for the curb can diversify the pastime in winter, and in the spring it will only be necessary to strengthen the finished sides on the supports. The inside must be lined with foil or other durable material to avoid soil spilling into the cracks. A drainage layer (broken gravel, expanded clay or sand) is poured onto the bottom. The rest of the volume is filled with earth. Even vegetables are placed in such beds.

From planks of bright color, they make flower beds or beds fences. The shape and color can be any (those that you like and suit the composition). Inside, it is worth isolating the sides from moisture, fixing a film on them, pouring drainage and soil into the rest of the space. The shape of the flower bed can become a source of inspiration and an exclusive decoration of the site.

A flower garden in a flowerbed in the form of a decorative well will attract special attention of guests and will please the household.

Wood is a versatile material. All its parts are used. Do not forget about the speed of wood decay. To lengthen the service life of wood products, the structure must be impregnated with antiseptics and coated with oil compounds (paint, oil, wax).

On a metal frame

Professional topiary art gave a lot of ideas to flower growers for arranging flower beds. These include vertical beds and flower beds on a metal frame.

To perform such a miracle, you need to install a post made of a metal mesh frame, cover it from the inside with black non-woven material or black dense film, then fill it with soil, install a pipe with irrigation holes in the center. Outside, cuts are made and plants are planted. Over time, foliage and flowers close together and form a vertical flowering column. This method is one of the most difficult to perform and maintain: flowers are difficult to replace and water.

Remains after renovation

In most cases, after repairing a home, a bunch of linoleum scraps, remnants of slate, bricks, pipe trimmings, pallets from building materials, packing boxes remain. All this can be taken to a landfill, but it is better to use it as an improvised material for the construction of flower beds.

Brick paths are beautifully combined with flower beds, framed by borders of the same brick. Such curbs are laid out in trenches along the contour of the flower bed: the foundation is poured into the formwork and several rows of bricks are laid on the mortar. From this material, you can make a multi-level bed: the play of relief will add decorativeness to the composition.

A round flower bed around a garden tree will make watering and fertilizing convenient, it will add an aesthetic decorative effect to the garden plantings. Flowers and garden strawberries can be grown in near-stem flower beds: they are decorative and have delicious berries.

The border of the flower bed is made from plastic and glass bottles. You can argue about the artistic value of this material, but with proper execution, interesting compositions are obtained.

Ceramic trimmings should be used to decorate the surfaces of the paths and sides of the flower bed. The base can be made of concrete and decorated with a mosaic of shards. Crockery shards can also be used. If desired, the pieces of the mosaic are painted in various bright colors with paint for outdoor use and pasted over the outside of the rabatka.

Metal objects are used as a container for planting flowers (for example, discs of old wheels).

Flowerbed design made from old tires is no less popular than brick trim. This material has become traditional: it is affordable and relatively easy to process. The tire is filled with soil and the plants are planted, the rubber surface itself is painted in a bright color or painted with patterns. Such flower beds can be placed in different parts of the site or grouped into a beautiful composition.

You can make a swan or a donkey out of tire scraps, build a real art group in the garden. A more complex device for flower beds made of car tires with a curly edge.

An unsightly structure or a monotonous fence is decorated with vertical flower beds made of wooden boxes in which pots of flowers are placed. Before that, the bottom and sides of the desired height are laid out from the scraps of linoleum. Then drainage and soil are poured, the plants you like are placed. This type of decor looks colorful during the flowering period.

Suspended beds and flower beds made of cuttings from pipes or gutters have gained popularity. To do this, the pipe is cut lengthwise into two halves. Each half is independently fixed on the wall or a suspended structure is created on cables from several parallel gutters. Flowers or vegetables are planted in these peculiar pots.

Vertical flower beds anywhere on the site can be arranged from building pallets. Original flower beds will be a bright decoration of the site. However, such flower beds require regular watering and timely replacement of faded specimens to preserve their decorative effect. In winter, these plants must be transferred to heated rooms or limited to growing annuals.

Plumbing and utensils

The old plumbing remains after the renovation. She can also be given a second life in the garden. For example, an old tub can be painted on the outside with waterproof paint. A drainage layer must be placed on the bottom. The rest of the container is filled with potting soil.

Such a bed has sufficient depth for planting any plants that have a one-year flowering period.

The composition of climbing plants and lianas looks incredibly beautiful. Broken pots and old pots should be decorated, filled with earth and planted with a flower arrangement. Human imagination is limitless: amazing household items are used in garden design.

The plumbing set, covered in gold paint and decorated with thujas, becomes a piece of art (a little ironic, but original). It is worth beautifully and humorously to paint old rusty barrels and plant flowers or vegetables in them so that they please the eye and cheer up.

Other popular remedies

Old furniture has become no less popular for arranging flower beds. For a successful composition, it is worth spying on ideas from professional designers by correctly copying them on your site. Otherwise, you can get a warehouse of old furniture in different parts of the garden.

The technologists for converting the old sideboard into a flower garden are as follows:

 • we paint the old cabinet in a bright color;
 • we use drawers as mini-flower beds;
 • we install this buffet-flower bed in a suitable place in the garden or yard.

Each housewife who has her own land plot tries to ennoble it with flower beds. Most often they are located next to gazebos for relaxation or directly near the entrance to the house. In order for it to have a well-groomed, attractive appearance, you need to have some skills. But it is not necessary to contact a professional designer at the same time, with some effort, you can independently design your site.

First of all, you should decide what exactly you want to create. If you have chosen a rustic style, then the flowerbed can be decorated with old painted tires, decorations from an old bicycle, etc.

They are popular and distinguished by their sophistication of composition with decorative trees and coniferous shrubs. Firstly, they do not require much care, and secondly, they look great all year round. If you opt for this option, it should be borne in mind that such plants require an acidic environment.

Fallen needles, an insignificant part of peat and sod land are used to prepare the soil. Then the resulting mixture must be poured into a previously prepared groove with a layer of 50 cm. Conifers should not be planted close, in the future they will grow. Better to complement it with boxwood, rhododendron or erica. For a finished look, the edges of the flower beds will also require decoration.

Another interesting option is a perennial flower bed. Quite a lot of planting schemes have been developed, where the location, the color range, and the flowering period are interestingly selected.

With proper care, such compositions do not require the annual planting of new flowers. Using the proposed tips, your site will look presentable for several months a year.

A flower bed of continuous flowering is the ideal solution for a ceremonial flower garden

Breaking a flower garden at the entrance to the house, I want it to always look attractive. The ideal solution would be to create a flower bed of continuous flowering.

To successfully create such a flower garden, you need to take into account several rules:

 • Both perennial and annual flowers should be planted in the flowerbed. And even shrubs.
 • It is necessary to select plants with approximately the same requirements for humidity, light and watering.
 • There should be no plants - aggressors (decorative leaf, loosestrife, periwinkle). Perennials that are easily inseminated (lupine, poppy, aquilegia) are also undesirable.

The next step in creating a continuous flowering flower bed will be a paper plan. By drawing a plan, we define its outlines. We also compile a list of perennials and their location.

Here is an approximate list of perennials by seasons:

Spring: snowdrop, crocus, blueberry, pushkinia, muscari, chionodoxa, hyacinth, tulip, daffodil, primrose, hellebore, saxifrage, daisy, hazel grouse, anemone, liverwort, erantis.

Summer: here the largest selection of various perennials: aquilegia, delphinium, poppy, lily, kupena, chamomile, daylily, peony, aquilegia, hosta, carnation, lychnis, rudbeckia, iris, phlox, cornflower, monarda, cinquefoil, sedum, spurge, bell, geyhera ...

Autumn: chrysanthemum, perennial aster, helenium, goldenrod, sunflower, coreopsis.

You can also identify groups of off-season plants that are attractive for a long time. These are primarily conifers, spruce, mountain pine, juniper. Ornamental cereals such as blue fescue, maned barley, miscanthus can also be included here. All kinds of ferns are also decorative all summer long.

The final list depends on the size of the future flower bed. But even if the sizes are large, you do not need to plant a large number of various perennials, it is better to let them be few, but each will occupy a larger plot. So we will avoid unnecessary variegation, which will significantly complicate the perception of the entire flower garden at once.

We divide the resulting list of plants into two groups:

The first is plants that have a short growing season. These are mainly spring bulbous plants. In their place, you need to provide for annual flowers. It is very good to plant plants that form a large green mass from one root.

The ideal version of such a plant is petunia. It can be planted a little to the side of the place where the bulbs are in the ground, and, expanding, it will completely close it.

We will include all the remaining perennials in the second group - they will not spoil the appearance of the flower bed after flowering.

Having decided on the list of perennials and their features, we begin to place them on our plan. To do this, number each with a serial number from one and so on. It is even fashionable to cut rectangles or circles out of paper and number them. Then lay them out on the plan, trying on various options for the arrangement of plants.

When the plan is ready, then, most likely, some places will remain completely empty. Annuals will help us here. From annuals it is better to choose unpretentious ones, such as tall and low marigolds, annual asters, petunias, nasturtiums, annual dahlias.

All these perennials are distinguished by low maintenance requirements and a variety of colors. This will allow you to select plants that will organically combine with existing perennials.

Then you can proceed directly to the preparation of the site. It is best to do this in late summer or early fall. The site must be carefully dug up, all the weeds must be selected. Let the soil settle for about a week and start planting rhizomes and perennial bulbs.

If not all plants are available, then planting them can be postponed until spring. But then it is desirable to mark those plants that have already been planted with pointers.

In the spring of next year, we plant annuals. It is better to plant them with seedlings, so it will be possible to plant the required number of copies in the designated places.

In full beauty, a flower bed of continuous flowering will open only after a year, when all perennials take root well and build up a good root system.

The best decoration of a summer cottage is a self-made flower bed. To create a flower bed that will please the eye and where everything will be in harmony, you need to work a little.

Make a plan to follow. Choose flowers carefully, taking into account the flowering time and location. It must be protected from strong wind and sun. After choosing a place, we prepare the soil, clearing weeds, remove the top layer of the earth and fertilize it. It is good to add black soil, sand, loosen and drain.

One large flower bed often looks better than several small ones, but this is a matter of taste.

Take a simple shape, preferably a round or oval, or irregular shape, but without corners, unless you are just a designer, otherwise you may get an unexpected result. Perennial plants are best suited. Annuals are planted for novelty.

Flowers are planted from small to large, so large in the center, or in the background, if the flower bed is against the wall. In the color scheme, stick to a harmonious transition so as not to hurt the eyes. Everything is good in moderation! A few bright accents are usually warm colors, and the rest is a background of cool colors.

Add white flowers, they dilute the colors, and black ones enhance warm colors. Use the principle of maximum diversification. A single flowering period is undesirable, as a variegated picture can be obtained.

If you want to make the flower bed a slide, then in the center pour the earth about half a meter in height, and the lower level is about 10 cm from the gravel. After a couple of weeks, the earth subsides, then you can start planting flowers.

More and more popular. They give maximum naturalness to the landscape. The philosophy of creating such slides requires the correct placement of all elements.
