Pork ribs with stewed potatoes in a slow cooker - a dish for all times

Potatoes and meat are a classic combination for our cuisine. Moreover, both ingredients can exist in a wide variety of states.

Potatoes - boiled, stewed, baked (“solo” or with other vegetables). Meat (pork, beef, chicken, rabbit, turkey) - on the bone or pulp, chopped or pieces.

Of all types of meat, pork makes the most interesting combinations with potatoes. What about the favorite tandem of all children “cutlet - mashed potatoes”.

However, some recipes (including ours) are intended more for an older audience, because ribs with potatoes in a slow cooker are a real man's dish, hearty and nutritious, and have nothing to do with the children's menu.

But if your baby has already passed the age when his mother feeds him with a spoon, and has begun to eat adult food along with his parents, then he will also like soft potatoes with juicy meat.

Recipes for dishes that include pork ribs and potatoes are good because they make the housewife’s life easier, freeing up her free time.

There is no need to cook a piece of meat separately and then rack your brains over which side dish is best to serve it with. You get two in one (both the meat component and the side dish) in your favorite helper’s bowl.

At the same time, preparing potatoes with pork ribs is not at all difficult, and the nutritional value of the dish is simply amazing.

Of course, stewed ribs and potatoes are not a complete list of all the products that we will need. Traditionally, stewed potatoes with meat are prepared with the participation of vegetables such as onions and carrots.

If the treat is prepared in the summer, you can add other seasonal vegetables: bell peppers, tomatoes, zucchini. Well, in winter or early spring we will be content with what we have at hand.

Step 1

Rinse the pork ribs under running water. Cut into portions. Add oil to the multicooker bowl.

Please note: ribs are not a dietary product; during the frying process they release quite a lot of juice and fat.

Therefore, you should not pour as much oil into the bowl as you would use for regular frying of vegetables. You really only need a few drops.

To ensure that such a small amount is evenly distributed over the entire surface, use a silicone culinary brush.

If you are not in a hurry and can afford to stretch out the process of preparing stewed potatoes with pork ribs, you can pre-marinate the meat. You can choose any marinade recipes, it all depends on your imagination.

Step 2

Peel the onion and chop it. Add to the bowl with the meat and fry for about five minutes.

Step 3

Wash the carrots from dirt and peel them. You can cut the carrots into strips or grate them - choose the option that you can handle faster. Add chopped carrots to the rest of the ingredients.

Step 4

Therefore, washed and peeled potatoes need to be cut fairly large - into quarters - and placed in a bowl.

Step 5

Pour a little less than half a liter of warm water into the bowl. Season the dish with salt and pepper, add bay leaf and dried dill.

If desired, you can use other spices, depending on the taste of the dish you want to achieve. Suneli hops will make any food hot and spicy, dried basil and rosemary will provide a Mediterranean touch, soy sauce and ginger will provide a slight hint of Asian cuisine.

If all these recipes do not make you want to stick to a specific direction, but you want to diversify the taste, add neutral spices to the bowl: turmeric, coriander, paprika.

Recipes also differ regarding the cooking program. Some sources indicate the “Baking” mode, others insist on the “Stewing” course.

These programs differ in the way the product is processed: in the first case, intensive heat treatment occurs, and in the second, it is rather simmering.

What choice to make is up to you, we cooked in the “Stew” mode, and the result pleased us with the most tender pork ribs and crumbly potatoes.

If you are not concerned about counting calories, and you do not care about the fat content of the dish, you can add a few tablespoons of sour cream or cream to the multicooker bowl at the beginning of the mode.

The light creaminess, silky texture of the stewed potatoes and delicate gravy will be a pleasant reward.

Recipe Description

Pork ribs are an excellent option for those who like to eat tasty and hearty meals.
There are hundreds of recipes for their preparation.
Today we will cook pork ribs with potatoes, fried in a slow cooker, and to make them more tender and aromatic, we will first marinate them.
You can use absolutely any marinade - any spices, seasonings, sauces.
It is better to marinate the ribs for 7-8 hours, but if you don’t have that much time, you can leave them in the marinade for at least one hour.
So let's get started!

To cook ribs with potatoes in a slow cooker you need:

  • Pork ribs – 5–10 pieces;
  • Potatoes – 4-5 pieces;
  • Garlic – 3 cloves;
  • Ketchup – 3-4 tbsp. spoons;
  • Adjika – 1 teaspoon;
  • A mixture of ground peppers;
  • Vegetable oil;
  • Salt and other spices - to taste.

Cooking step by step:

Place the ribs in the container in which they will marinate.
Add garlic, salt and spices passed through a press.

Sprinkle with ketchup and adjika.
Mix everything well, cover with a lid and send to marinate in a cold place.

After time has passed (1 - 8 hours), take out the ribs, mix again and place in the multicooker bowl.
Add vegetable oil.
The amount of oil depends on the fat content of the ribs and taste preferences (in our bowl, one tablespoon).

Place coarsely chopped potatoes on top of the ribs and sprinkle with salt.
Turn on the “Baking” mode.

Further actions depend on the behavior of a particular multicooker in the “Baking” mode.
If the multicooker does not have problems in “Baking” (nothing burns or sticks), cook for one hour without switching.
If there are problems, you need to switch to the “Stew” mode 30 minutes after the start of “Baking”.
We also simmer for 30 minutes.
This is how you can cook the most tender ribs with potatoes in a slow cooker.
Bon appetit!

How to cook stewed potatoes with ribs in a Polaris multicooker

We wash the ribs, dry them with a paper towel, after which they need to be cut into portions and placed in one layer in a multicooker bowl, onto the bottom of which you need to pour a small amount of vegetable oil.

Select the “fry” mode and fry the ribs on both sides until light golden brown, turning them over with a spatula.

Then add onions and carrots. We cut the vegetables randomly; I prefer larger cuts for this dish. I cut the carrots into cubes and the onions into feathers.

Fry everything together, stirring occasionally for about ten minutes.

Then pour water, pour enough water so that it completely covers the meat and vegetables. Add enough salt and spices to taste. Cook the ribs after boiling for another 30 minutes, using the “stew” mode or the multi-cook function.

Then add the peeled, washed and chopped potatoes. You can cut the potatoes into medium-sized cubes, I prefer large cuts. If you like stewed potatoes with a lot of aromatic broth, then at this moment you can add more water. Then add bay leaf and salt to taste.

Leave the slow cooker to simmer for another hour or until the potatoes are done.

Place the finished potatoes with ribs on plates, garnishing with herbs. You can complement the dish with a salad of fresh vegetables or any winter preparations. This recipe will certainly be relevant at any time of the year and will appeal to everyone without exception. Despite the fact that the dish is quite simple, it turns out incredibly tasty, satisfying and aromatic. Bon appetit!

In today's bustle of big cities, I really want simple, but at the same time tasty, satisfying, home-made food. A modern kitchen assistant, a multicooker, undoubtedly helps us with this. The dishes in it always come out as if stewed - as if from a Russian oven. So we will cook today stewed potatoes with pork ribs in a slow cooker. The combination of potatoes and meat is always a win-win, and your family will no doubt appreciate it.

Ingredients:

  • rack of pork ribs
  • potatoes - 5 - 6 pcs
  • onion - 1 pc.
  • carrots - 1 pc.
  • sunflower oil
  • spices to taste

For the sauce:

  • sour cream - 1 - 2 tbsp. spoons
  • flour - 1 tbsp. spoon

Preparation:

Fry the pork ribs in a slow cooker in the “baking” mode on both sides. It took me 40 minutes.

Add chopped onion, after 7 minutes add grated carrots. Stir and simmer for another 10 minutes.

If the bones of the ribs are sharp, I advise you to remove them after frying, so as not to damage the coating of the bowl when frying vegetables.

Add chopped potatoes to the ribs. Salt, sprinkle with spices to taste, add bay leaf, dried garlic. Stir and pour two glasses of water.

Or make the sauce, who made it , he is familiar with this filling, it turns out very tasty potatoes. To fill, mix milk, sour cream, flour. Whisk everything and pour this sauce over the potatoes. If you like stewed potatoes with gravy, make more sauce.

Stew potatoes in a slow cooker Panasonic 50 minutes, in “baking” mode.

Pork ribs can be prepared in different ways, but the most popular among housewives are recipes in which pork ribs are cooked immediately with vegetables. In this case, you get a complete dish, and the vegetables, soaked in pork fat and the aroma of spices, turn out twice as tasty as a separately prepared side dish. If you stew pork ribs with potatoes in a slow cooker, the whole family will be fed a hearty and tasty dinner, while the housewife will have time that she can devote to her loved ones instead of standing at the stove.

Cooking features

Simply putting food in a multicooker and turning on the appropriate program is not always enough to prepare a truly tasty dish. Experienced chefs do not hide how they manage to make soft, tender and satisfying pork ribs with potatoes in a slow cooker.

  • The main secret is in choosing the main product. It is better to take pork ribs that are meaty, but with a sufficient amount of fat. In this case, preference should be given to the meat of a young pig rather than an old pig. Young pork has white lard, old pork has yellowish lard.
  • If meat is defrosted incorrectly, it loses its juiciness. Therefore, if you want to cook a dish from frozen brisket in a slow cooker, you need to remove it from the freezer in advance. Place the brisket in the refrigerator and remove from it only when the meat is thawed. Otherwise, you risk getting dry meat, which will ruin the taste of the entire dish.
  • If you pre-marinate the pork ribs, they will come out more juicy and flavorful. You can marinate pork in wine, kefir, beer, mineral water, mayonnaise, soy-honey or honey-mustard sauce. In all cases, the dish turns out tasty and fragrant, but it is important that the taste and aroma of the sauce and spices are in harmony with the taste of the vegetables with which the pork ribs are stewed. Therefore, if you do not have much culinary experience, it is better not to experiment, but to follow the recommendations in the chosen recipe.
  • Pork ribs and potatoes are prepared in a multicooker using the “Multicook” program, however, this function is not available in all units. If the above program is not available, use the “Stewing” or “Baking” program. Based on the directions in the recipe.
  • If you first fry the ribs and only then stew them with vegetables, they will turn out more juicy.
